Our work in the theatre can be summarised in a few words – fun, inventive and interactive. We have been a touring company for 30 years with the number of shows we have created and adapted extending to over 70.

In recent years, Heartbreak has been touring an outdoor season of shows each summer throughout the UK including a family show, a classic with a twist and an adaptation of Shakespeare.

Our style

We focus on the uniqueness of theatre and particularly the ever-changing relationship between the audience and the actor, which means our audience is encouraged to get involved and not just sit back and let the actors do all the work! We want our work to be the best, collaborating with actors, designers, composers and crew to create a special and exciting experience for our audiences.

Heartbreak’s adaptations are based on the ‘play within a play’ approach. Using this mechanism allows us the freedom to put our own twist on popular texts, providing more opportunities for character development and audience participation. We hope you’ll see the play from a new perspective…
